Rubber Duckie and US Navy Cakes

This past Saturday I had two cakes due.  One was for a baby shower at my next door neighbor's house, and the other was for a former neighbor's father-in-law.

I don't know what it was about this week and these cakes, but I have never been so calm working on a cake, much less two cakes at once.  I'm usually stressing and stressing over them, trying to make sure they're right, trashing the kitchen, and working into the night the night before it's due because I just always let it end up that way (I think I work best under pressure).

This time, not only did I have a ball working on them (which is usually the case, but these were extra fun), but I had one completed Thursday evening and the other Friday afternoon.  The kitchen was clean, calm, and cake-mess-free by Friday night.  The cakes were picked up on Saturday, and everybody was happy.

So here is Mr. Rubber Duckie, in his cute little bathtub:

And here is the USS America:

Next up is a baby shower cake and cupcakes this weekend for a good friend, a cake for my grandfather's birthday later this month, then my second attempt at Thomas the Train April 1st.  Keep 'em coming, I love it!
