Mother's Day

My mother's day has been a very nice one. Quite non-eventful, but that's usually the way I like it. As I sit here I can smell the incredibly beautiful white peony that Bennett (Mama and Daddy) brought me this morning. If I lean a little to the left, I can smell the sweet pink roses I clipped and put in a silver vase for Mama this morning.

We had everyone over for breakfast this morning. Jeff is in town from Florida, so the whole crew was here. It was very nice. I didn't even bother to dress Bennett for the occasion, since it was just us and I was busy. So, he got to run around in his diaper all morning. It's probably a good thing, since we decided to let him feed himself grits for breakfast. It's about time he starts doing it himself, and I figure grits is a good food for that. They pretty much stick to the spoon (well, these did) and he can get them to his mouth without them falling off first. That's not to say that it wasn't messy. He had grits from head to toe, and I shouldn't even post this picture because it doesn't do it justice. They are on his face, his stomach, his legs, toes, hands, the spoons he's holding, in his hair, and they are all over the back of his legs, too. And yes, I was quick to scoop him up and hose him down before they got all over our furniture too.

After breakfast, we all drank coffee and visited for a while, then Daddy, Jeff and Greg headed to Alabama to spend time with our family out there, Josh and I headed up the street to work at the house, and Mama got stuck with Bennett duty. Duty and doodie, I'm sure. Ha ha. And I say she got "stuck" with it, but I think any of us would take that job over any other. :)

You probably wonder why I would want to go up there and work on Mother's Day? It's Josh that is completely burned out. I considered it my gift that he offered to go up there and work with me today. We're so close to being finished, and yet he is all but giving up. Two weeks! Two weeks and they are literally moving their stuff in! IT HAS TO BE DONE! And then we don't have to think about it anymore! Not only that, but we'll be getting a check once a month for it! Come on, stay with me! We can do it!!!

So, I hope all you mothers got to do what you enjoy with the people you love today. I did!
